MARK YOUR CALENDARS for October 12th

Meeting at Pembroke Pizza 633 Independence Blvd. VA Beach, VA.

NEW BUSINESS

It was voted by majority that refreshments be eliminated at the meetings.   This will save us over $300.00 a year.  So, bring in your drink, snack or dinner to enjoy.  We will continue to have a Christmas party with covered dishes as in the past.

I will call Cynthia Seay to check if we can display our club in the cases in the front of the library.  If we are able to use them for a few months, I will need a couple of volunteers to put their metal detecting related items in the cases.  UPDATE – We are meeting at the library on Saturday, Sept. 4th at 10 AM to arrange display cases.  We have been sending out emails for items to be displayed.  Ron will make tee pee cards, code of ethics.  Mike P. and Gary Gray, and Kelley are supplying CW war items.  I will have beach related items.  Anyone with items, please contact me.  Thanks!

Ron Ratcliff handed out 6 of his Detectcollect programs and would like input.

COURTESY OF THE INTERNET….

My hunting grounds and location--To make them universal for everyone here they are all except those in southern Florida you will need to reverse them. You go down this road till you get to the house that the old man from the north lived in and you stay straight and to the right. When you get to the old oak tree that burned down and the place where we buried the old dog Blue turn to the right go bout 2-3 miles and then you come to a sign on the left that was blown over by the hurricane. The post is still buried in the grass right beside the orange grove near the landfill. Go east till you see a bunch of tall buildings and head to them. You can tell you are getting close as there will be sea gulls and pelicans in the air and most of the time there is a little wind blowing. Now when you get to the buildings look on the back and there will be a bunch of white sand. While standing on the beach look out at the water and you will see boats if you look close and get to the west side of the boat you will see a big shell and some debris lying close to the water. Just as you get to the water’s edge you will see the spot where I found the last ring and go south towards the next building that has the woman who stands out on the balcony naked and sun baths on most occasions. (right below her balcony is a very good place to find pull tabs and bottle caps as well as empty soldiers of beer cans from the men with telescopes aimed at the horizon all pointing in the same direction? How do they see past that building and look at the stars in the daytime. Oh Well. If you go far enough south you will have to go a across a bridge or two or three and you will get to a concrete marker a lot of people take pictures beside for some unknown reason. DO not try and make a boat that appears anything like a raft and try and come back to land. These people in large boats with guns and uniforms may ask to come and search your boat. I guess they are looking for illegal sized Fish? Anyway from the Savannah River to the south is a very good place to swing. I have found a secret and I will let all of you in on it. The waters cold.

I will miss September’s meeting and my perfect attendance will be gone L Kelley will be filling in. Thanks Kell!!!
